Katrin Auel is Head of the Research Group European Governance, Public Finance and Labour Markets. She joined the IHS in 2012. After completing her studies at the University of Konstanz, she held positions at the University of Halle-Wittenberg, the University of Hagen, the University of Oxford and the European University Viadrina. She has also held visiting posts at Waseda University, Tokyo, the University of Halle-Wittenberg; Stanford University (in Oxford), Science Po Grenoble, and as an associate researcher at Sciences Po, Paris. Her research focuses on Europeanisation, the democratic legitimacy of governance in multilevel systems and, in particular, legislative studies with a specific interest in the role of national parliaments in the EU and parliamentary communication.
