Overqualification has increased on the Austrian Labor Market

Stefan Vogtenhuber, David Baumegger and Lorenz Lassnigg examine supply-demand relationships on the Austrian labor market between 1994 and 2015. Due to educational expansion and structural shifts in employment, highly qualified labor market entrants are increasingly allocated to occupational groups that previously had required less education. As a result, the incidence of formal overqualification has increased, with women being disproportionately affected by job mismatches.
