Mild recession followed by a restrained upswing

"Even though the buzzword 'recession' is in the air, the positive aspects of the forecast should not be overlooked," said Holger Bonin, Director of IHS, at today's presentation of the IHS Autumn Forecast.

With the GDP decline of -0.4 percent in 2023  the lowest point has been passed and a plus of 0.9 percent is forecast for 2024. "The recovery is moderate, but the current economic trend gives no reason to fall into crisis mode."
In order to secure Austria as a business location in the long term, the focus should be on structural reforms and improving the framework conditions for innovation and investment in future-oriented fields.
