After studying business administration and economics and earning his doctorate at the University of Vienna, Prof. Schwödiauer led the Institute for Advanced Studies in Vienna from 1973 to 1979 before moving to the University of Bielefeld.
At IHS, Gerhard Schwödiauer progressed from scholar to assistant and later to department head. In 1973, at the age of thirty, he was elected the institute's youngest scientific director to date, a testament to the great confidence placed in his professional excellence and leadership.
