IHS mourns the loss of Erich W. Streissler

The institute mourns the loss of economist Erich W. Streissler, who passed away on 12 October and played an active and important role in the history of IHS.

Erich W. Streissler was closely associated with IHS for most of the institute's history. In the first decade after its founding, he taught as a visiting professor in the Department of Economics for seven academic years, making him one of the most important teachers in IHS's formative phase. From the mid-1970s onwards, he devoted himself to quality assurance at the institute as a member of the Scientific Advisory Board, a role he held for over two and a half decades until 2001.

An obituary by Gunther Tichy can be found on the website of the Austrian Economic Association.

Our sincere condolences go out to his family and loved ones.
