IHS is a member of the "Research Centre International Economics"

Since spring 2025, the Institute for Advanced Studies (IHS) has been a member of the Research Center International Economics (FIW). This cooperation gives IHS extended access to data relevant to foreign trade and creates valuable synergies in the area of research and economic policy advice.

The FIW is a joint project with the Vienna University of Economics and Business, the University of Vienna, the Johannes Kepler University Linz, the Leopold Franzens University Innsbruck, the Austrian Institute of Economic Research (WIFO) and the Vienna Institute for International Economic Studies (wiiw) and is funded by the Federal Ministry of Women, Science and Research and the Federal Ministry of Economy, Energy and Tourism.

As part of the cooperation, IHS is particularly involved in the economic policy pillar of the FIW.  Specific activities include the publication of policy briefs on issues relevant to trade policy, the co-authoring of the FIW annual report and its autumn update as well as participation in the organization of the FIW annual conference. In addition, IHS contributes its proven expertise in data visualization, for example in the context of the FIW Trade Indicator
