How to get to IHS

The Institute for Advanced Studies (IHS) is in Vienna's eighth district, Josefstädter Straße 39. Due to its proximity to the city center, the institute can be easily reached in an environmentally friendly manner by public transportation or bike.

Public Transportation

Tram line 2 stops nearby at "Lederergasse/Josefstädter Straße". IHS can also be reached by tram line 5 (stop "Blindengasse"), subway line U6 (stop "Josefstädter Straße) and bus line 13A (stops "Theater in der Josefstadt" and "Lederergasse).

Bike

Arriving by bike is made easy by the surrounding bike paths. The IHS has a bicycle stand with room for three bicycles on its premises. Other public bicylcle stands are located in the surrounding area and shown on the map.

There are Wienmobil bike stations in Strozzigasse, Albertgasse and next to Josefstädter Straße subway station.

Train

The city of Vienna is easily accessible by train, the three largest train stations are Vienna Central Station, Vienna Meidling and Vienna West Station. All stations are accessible by public transportation.

Car and e-car

Please note that there is no parking at IHS and the entire eighth district is a short-term parking zone. The parking lot in front of the institute is only available for authorized and delivery vehicles.

For electric vehicles public e-charging stations are available in Pfeilgasse and Albertgasse.

Vienna Airport

Vienna Airport is outside the city limits of Vienna, in Schwechat, Lower Austria.

Getting to Vienna is possible by public transport - the S7 rapid transit line, ÖBB train connections, and the City Airport Train (CAT). You can find the fastest connection here.
