Skill Demand during Structural Change
The junior research group Skill Demand during Structural Change explores how digitalization, the ecological transformation of the economy and demographic change are changing job profiles, skill requirements and employment transitions. The core research focus is on the effects on firms and workers—especially in terms of labor shortages, mismatches and training needs.
The group works from a labor economics perspective and takes into account social inequalities with respect to educational, gender or regional characteristics. Methodologically, the research group analyzes survey data, administrative data and unstructured data from digital sources using both classic econometric methods for causal analysis and modern data science approaches.
