The research design of this study is characterized by intricately linked analysis steps. The linkage of quantitative and qualitative methods allows for a deeper understanding of the economic and labor market-related aspects of the planned upscaling of the photovoltaic and wind power production capacity in Lower Austria. The quantitative analysis aims both at describing the status quo of the work force in the relevant sectors based on secondary data and calculating the expected economic effects of the upscaling. The qualitative analysis focuses on current and future demands of workers and qualifications relevant for the upscaling according to the Lower Austrian climate- and energy roadmap. Within the synopsis, conclusions regarding the potentials and challenges will be drawn and recommendations for action given.
