Project Lead: Alexander Schnabl
Team: Sarah Gust, Liliana Mateeva, Kerstin Plank and Lorenz Wimmer
Duration: September 2019 – February 2020
Funding: Österreichische Beteiligungs AG (ÖBAG)

The study explores the sustainability reporting of six portfolio companies of the Österreichische Beteiligungs AG (ÖBAG) – OMV AG (mineral oil sector), Telekom Austria AG (telecommunications), Österreichische Post AG (postal and courier services), Verbund AG (energy supply), Bundesimmobiliengesellschaft m.b.H. (real estate and housing) and Casinos Austria AG (gambling and betting services). The analysis compares the current sustainability reports of the six companies with those of concurrent enterprises in the same sector. The examination of sustainability relies upon the companies’ resilience towards challenges from their environment. The system of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) was used to analyze key themes and measures as well as their connection to social (mega) trends.
The study aimed at identifying overlaps and variances within the sectors and subsequently deriving appropriate recommendations.
