    Research Reports

Gabriele Pessl focuses on research questions in the fields of education and social inequality, approaching the significance of education for societal development in a holistic manner. She is recently working on her doctoral thesis on meanings of early school leaving (ESL) discourses in the biographies of young persons who left school early, asking how ESL related discourses structure biographies and how they are appropriated biographically. The project thus combines biographical case reconstruction and discourse analysis. Both interpretative approaches are theoretically based in sociology of knowledge.
