About UBA

Umweltbundesamt GmbH is an organization of experts dealing with the whole range of environmental issues and media from water, soil and biodiversity to agriculture, air quality, waste, climate change, industry and energy as well as transport and noise developing . environmental strategy perspectives for environmental policy in Austria and Europe in an interdisciplinary approach. At international level Umweltbundesamt acts as partner and adviser of international organizations such as the EU Commission, UNEP, OECD and UNECE. With country partnerships – so-called Twinning projects – the Environment Agency Austria provides support to central and southeast European authorities in important environmental matters, for capacity building in administration and for the implementation of EU legislation.
The Department of Transport and Noise has in-depth knowledge and experience in the field of conventional and alternative propulsion systems technology and fuel technologies. Umweltbundesamt is the national coordinator for the development of the "Handbook of emission factors for road transport". Several studies assessing the environmental impact from transport have been carried out covering environmental impacts from conventional and alternative propulsion system technologies as well as fuels. Beside direct transport emissions also indirect process emissions within Life Cycle Assessments (LCA) are covered in numerous studies
