Emission Reduction Potential of Electric Mobility (WP5)

Comprises the calculation of the well-to-wheel energy consumption and the contribution of the future electric vehicle fleet to emission reductions in Austria and Germany depending on the related provenance of electricity.

Objectives

  • Investigation of the contribution of electric vehicles to emission reductions in Austria and Germany

  • Caclulations of emissions

  • Camparison of scenarios

Description

Task 5.1: Emission reduction potentials for GHG emissions and air pollutants in Austria and in Germany up to 2030
The emission reduction potential is calculated for the transport sector in Austria and Germany in 2030. The total HGHG emissions balance takes into account the direct and indirect emissions of all conventional electric vehicles.
Using the software tool GEMIS, direct emissions of road transport as well as upstream emissions are caclulated. The emissions within this WP encompasses GHG emissions and air pollutants. The emission factors for electric vehicles are derived from the results of  WP2 Elaborations on the Electricity Market Model and  WP7 Completion of Electricity Market Model & Application, which determinethe emissions of the additional electricity demand arising from e-mobility.
