David Binder is part of the research group Educational Structures and Educational Opportunities at IHS. After studying Sociology and Statistics at the University of Vienna, he was a researcher at the Philipps University of Marburg and the Johannes Gutenberg University of Mainz before joining IHS in 2015.
His research focuses on the transition from (higher) education to the labor market, the social situation of students, pathways through the education system, and intergenerational social mobility. David is primarily working with administrative data, applying a wide range of quantitative methods. In his current doctoral research project, he is investigating the question of whether and how first-generation students are disadvantaged during their transition to the labor market. -
