In this project (funded by the bmvit, "Stadt der Zukunft", 4th call) a transdisciplinary R&D consortium aims to analyze the transformative potential of Repair & Do-It-Yourself Urbanism with regard to a fundamental change of the existing non-sustainable handling of commodities in selected urban districts, their infrastructures and dominant business and private household practices. In his research, Michael seeks to combine a wide range of approaches from various disciplines like sociology, philosophy, economic sciences, political sciences and geography. He is and has been engaged in projects concerning the themes Technology Assessment, Urban Sociology, Sociology of Consumption ("Fair Trade"), Political Sociology, Transformation Research, Science and Innovation Sociology, Knowledge and Technology Transfer, Knowledge Work, "Combined Technologies" and Art in Public Space.
