People at IHS in alphabetical order:

  • Alexander Lang studied Sociology (2007-2011) and German Philology (2006-2012) at the University of Vienna as well as Socio-Economics at the Vienna University of Economics and Business (2011-2015). Since June 2018 he has been a doctoral candidate at the University of Vienna, Faculty of Social Sciences (Supervisor: Prof. Dr. Michaela Pfadenhauer).

    He has been working for the Institute for Advanced Studies since 2011. Currently, he is a member of the research group "Techno-Science & Societal Transformation" and involved in several international projects dealing with Responsible Research and Innovation (RRI). Between 2011 and 2015, he was part of the IHS's Department of Sociology.

    Alexander Lang has been working on national and international social-scientific projects dealing with various aspects of controversial technologies, including direct-to-consumer genetic testing and hydraulic fracturing ("fracking"). He is currently working in several international projects dealing with the concept of Responsible Research and Innovation (RRI).

    His research interests include the societal embedding and effects of technologies as well as the nexus between knowledge, the construction of meaning and the course of action, especially in the area of end-of-life (dying and death, end-of-life decisions, bequest and inheritance, etc.).
