Finding the Right Testing-Strategy for SARS-CoV-2

A new IHS-Policy Brief contrasts the demand for more SARS-CoV-2 testing against the possibilities and limitations of current testing methods. It concludes that the goal of extensive testing is correct. However, the policy brief postulates five different objectives, each of which requires a differentiated approach. The most suitable test method must be chosen because these methods differ considerably in their properties. The brief demonstrate this by means of calculation examples, which are intended to show that the choice of an incorrect test can lead to considerable negative consequences. At the same time the urgent need for more data on the occurrence of infections is of high importance.
