Care from a General Economic Point of View

In an IHS Policy Brief, Monika Riedel outlines an expansion of long-term care capacities as a possible contribution to a coping strategy for the current economic and health crisis. She argues that in addition to providing the highly required capacities for long-term care, such an expansion could create jobs across all Austrian regions, support gender equality goals and is characterised by high returns to the public sector, not least due to the high personnel intensity of the sector.
