Public and Labour Economics Applied Group

Higher international competition but also cooperation makes an assessment of all the consequences of decisions of policymakers more and more complex. For this reason, the Public and Labour Economics Applied Group aims to support public and private institutions  with theoretically and empirically based scientific advice and evaluation of discussed or already implemented policy reforms in the field of the public sector and the labour market.  The range of tasks involves e.g. the model-based evaluation of macroeconomic (TaxLab) and distributional (ITABENA) impacts of reforms in the following fields by applying microeconometric methods:
  •     taxation,
  •     social security and transfer system,
  •     family policies,
  •     the pension system,
  •     active labour market policy,
  •     work care balances,
  •     administrative reform
  •     education
The requirement to use methods on the margin of the scientific theory implies a strong cooperation with the Labour Economics and the Macro Group of Academic Research.
