Main Areas of Research

Oliver Treib's research addresses issues that are located at the interface of European Union studies and comparative politics. In particular, he has been working on compliance with EU legislation in Western and Eastern European member states, on the effect of economic internationalisation on domestic welfare states and on modes of governance in EU policy-making. His current research includes projects on the impact of party politics on government positions in international negotiations, on the relationship between the European Union and its citizens, and on party patronage in Austria.
