Welcome to the Department of Sociology!

According to the mission statement of the IHS the Department of Sociology is committed to outstanding theory oriented empirical research as well as to an internationally recognized training program in Sociology. This commitment entails publishing in peer-reviewed journals and with major international publishers, presenting the results of our research at key international conferences, participating in collaborative national and international research projects, and competing for nationally and internationally financed research grants. The three year post postgraduate program on “Theories of Social Practice” addresses excellent students who hold a master’s degree in Sociology or similar disciplines and who are planning to acquire a doctoral degree in Sociology. For more information, please visit Teaching.
