Regional Economics
Higher competition and cooperation – not only on international but also on regional level – leads to more complexity in decision processes for policy makers and companies. For this reason we support public and private institutions with theoretically and empirically based scientific advice. The range of tasks involves e.g. efficiency-measurement (Data Envelopment Analysis and Stochastic Frontier Analysis) of public and private institutions, evaluation of regional economic effects of certain actions (IHS regional econometric models (EAR) and IHS multi-sector multi-regional input-output-model), regional distributional effects (gravity models), regional economic policy analyses and assistance in designing regional development strategies in an European context (regional forecast and benchmarking analyses).
Our research currently focuses on:

2. Regional structural change

b. Regional competitiveness
c. Specialisation and growth
3. Effects of infrastructure investment
