Welcome to the Finance Research Group!

The Institute's finance group was instrumental in the creation of the first Austrian PhD program in finance, the Vienna Graduate School of Finance (VGSF), a joint venture with two other Austrian universities.

In research, the group's interests range from corporate finance to macro finance.

Gabriel Lee's research areas are housing and macroeonomics, specializing in housing and business cycles. Some of his work has been published in the Journal of Economic Dynamics and Control, Economic Theory, International Economic Review, and the Journal of Risk and Uncertainty.

Klaus Ritzberger's roots are in game theory and decision theory. In finance, he is interested in market microstructure and the theory of the firm. He has published in journals such as Econometrica, Journal of Economic Theory, Games and Economic Behavior, Economic Theory, and the Annals of Finance.

Leopold Soegner's past research focused on financial economics and financial econometrics. Work on these topics has been published in the Journal of Financial and Quantitative Analysis, the Journal of Economic Dynamics and Control, the Journal of Economic Behavior and Organization and the Annals of the Institute of Statistical Mathematics.

Alex Stomper's expertise is in empirical finance. He published papers on market design and corporate finance in the Review of Financial Studies, Management Science, the Journal of Financial and Quantitative Analysis, and the Review of Finance.
