Economics and Finance

The Academic Research and Teaching faculty of the Department of Economics and Finance has two main missions. The first is to publish research results in high-quality, internationally referred journals. The international reputation of the Department rests on its success in this endeavor. The second is to provide an outstanding graduate education in economics and finance. To this end, the Department offers a Master of Science in Economics in cooperation with the Vienna University of Technology, a PhD in Economics jointly with the University of Vienna, and a PhD in Finance together with the University of Vienna and the Vienna University of Economics and Business.

The Institute has a long tradition to give advice to public policy. Commissioned research projects translate state of the art theoretical knowledge into solutions for customers. To this end the Applied Research Group covers a broad range of economic research fields. Theoretical models are combined with empirical methods to develop innovative answers to current economic policy challenges.
