
The interdisciplinary research group ‘Science, Technology and Environment as social Practices’ (steps) aims at the description and analysis of social practices in the fields of science, technologies and society-environment-relations in a comparative perspective. The group focuses on social practices in the context of the emergence, shaping, impacts and governance of science and technology. Comparative research can comprise nation states and regions as well as cultures. In our understanding it aims at highlighting the specifities of the compared units, e.g. social practices, through analysing similarities and differences. To do so a multi-method and multi-level approach is needed. steps takes part in the international discussion in social research on these issues.
